ProWein, Quality, Pizza Oven Opening 2025

After a very snowy and cold winter, we are looking forward to having our incredible crew of field workers from Thailand return in late April. This winter we did not hit the critical non-wind chill temperature of -18º or below, so pruning will be a little bit slower this spring but our choice of canes will be outstanding.

The foundation of all great businesses is consistency and quality. In 1992 when I was a lot younger and open to ideas, I was lucky enough to visit Charles Melton, the iconic and groundbreaking producer in Barossa Valley, South Australia. Above his barrels is written: “the quality stupid, the quality!” The statement made such an impression on me that today everything we do and every decision we make at the winery circles back to the simple question of “is this quality or not?"

I’ve just attended ProWein in Dusseldorf, one of the biggest and most important wine shows in Europe. Top wine buyers and sommeliers from around the world were amazed by the extremely high quality of our wines as well as their incredible value, particularly when compared to Burgundy or to other high-quality New World producers. Amazing to see the tremendous buzz around the Canadian booth amongst the ocean of wine producers from around the world.

This Spring we are open daily for tastings and offering our hearty winter food program. Enjoy cozy indoor seating among the barrels, or on sunny days outdoors next to roaring fire pits, with warm blankets provided. Serving piping hot lasagnas, classic French onion soup, eggplant parmigiana, in-house cold-smoked trout, the freshest P.E.I. oysters, warm cast-iron olives and toasted sourdough & focaccia. We look forward to welcoming you! Our wood-fired pizza oven and outdoor patio will open for the season on Friday, April 25th.

While I am proud that our wines are poured in over 40 Michelin Star restaurants across Europe and Japan, I am equally proud and happy to see them enjoyed right here in Canada at your table served alongside beautiful local produce. Eating local always tastes best while drinking local.

We look forward to welcoming you all season long! If you If you can’t make it to the County we are always delighted to ship directly to your door. Free shipping is available for orders across Canada including Quebec. Mixed cases are welcome!

Cheers,

Norm

Michelin missed this amazing Japanese restaurant:

If you live in Toronto and love great Japanese food, I would highly recommend Edomae Kiyomi at Church and Gerard. While there’s been a lot of hype around Japanese restaurants, Michelin clearly missed this one. Amazing value, fantastic small and precise sake menu and an all-Canadian wine list.
