It’s hard to believe that it’s already been three months since we unburied our vines and got the vineyard ready for a new season. The vines are looking better than ever and, now that we are past fruit set, I am growing increasingly excited about the upcoming harvest which promises to be splendid.
But before we turn our attention to harvest, there are a lot of fun events happening at the winery.
July 19: Sushi lunch at the winery
Next week, I am excited to host my good friend Junichi Ikematsu of the acclaimed Jun I restaurant. Jun-San and his team will be making the trek from Montreal on Tuesday, July 19 and will be cooking a sushi feast on our patio.
Join us for a beautiful 3 course lunch on the patio. We will be pouring magnums of 2014 County Pinot Gris and freshly bottled 2014 County Gamay by the glass for the occasion. Please call the winery at 613-399-5297 or email claude@normanhardie.com to book your spot, seating is very limited.
Pizza, oysters and wine on the patio
Our pizza oven is now open Thursday through Monday, from 11am to 6pm and our kitchen team just might be the best we’ve ever had. Come and taste it for yourself with a glass of wine (or two) on our beautiful patio overlooking the vineyard.
Every Sunday, Sam from The Shore shucks some beautiful East Coast oysters sourced directly from our good friend John Bil at Honest Weight, the Canadian oyster icon.
July 21-23: it’s Chardonnay time
Join me in Niagara for the 6th edition of I4C. 61 producers from a dozen countries will be pouring over 150 wines sure to satisfy every Chardonnay lover out there. If you wish to join us, click here for tickets. Don’t hesitate to use my promo code NH2016 for a discount on ticket price.
Niagara Cabernet Franc 2014 now available
For the first time in 2014, I managed to get my hands on some beautiful Cabernet Franc grapes from Niagara. I am excited to finally share the results with you: a deep-coloured, rich wine with notes of dark berry and a lovely lingering finish. Now available at the winery and on our online store.
